ROAR STORY SLAM HOUSTON 2023
YEEHAW! ROAR Story Slam is heading to Texas!
ROAR Story Slam is an annual live storytelling competition where six finalists are selected from our submission pool to perform their unique, creative, and authentic Korean American story for a chance to win a cash prize of up to $1,000. Each finalist will have no more than six minutes to tell their story without the use of scripts and props. Through ROAR Story Slam, we want to encourage Korean Americans to recognize the significance and range of our community’s narratives and to document and preserve them for the community and beyond.

Our theme for this year’s ROAR Story Slam is “What the Heck?”
“What the heck” is often used to express dismay, frustration, or anger. But there are times we use it to emphasize feeling surprised or doing something we shouldn’t do. Whether good, bad, funny, or downright awkward, everyone has a story that makes you go, “What the heck”.
