Location: Within Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT)

About Us:
KoreanAmericanStory.org is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to capture, preserve and share stories of the Korean American experience. We started in 2010 with our first series, Legacy Project, with the goal of documenting stories of first-generation Korean Americans who immigrated in the 1970s and 1980s. Since then, the organization has expanded to capture stories across generations and communities, as well as producing community events like K-Pod, NAYA, ROAR Story Slam, Writers Block and our annual gala. We value storytelling as a way to humanize our experiences while celebrating the diversity of our community, and we are looking to hire a Communication & Events Coordinator to join our team.

The Role:

The ideal candidate would be an energetic, highly organized, detail-oriented person with a sense of design and aesthetics, who is a strong communicator, a team player, and a flexible problem solver. The Communication & Events Coordinator will be responsible for out-facing communication related to programs and events. This includes coordinating the creation of marketing materials to promote our programs and events and organizing all phases of events, from planning, identifying and initiating contact with speakers/guests, coordinating communications with all involved parties, setting up, executing and cleaning up, to getting feedback on the event.

This position will require an ability to work with a team of contractors, volunteers, and community partners as well as the staff of KoreanAmericanStory.org. We are a virtual organization so you will be working remotely most of the time, with some in-person meetings, in addition to working some nights and weekends as needed. Events are both virtual and in-person, and travel is required for the in-person events. The in-person and/or virtual events and meetings may happen at non-traditional work hours.

Key Responsibilities:
•Communications:
Coordinate creation of promotional and marketing materials for KAS events & programs
Help update content on KAS website, YouTube and Simplecast (Podcast platform)
Send out email news blasts using Constant Contact
Respond to all external inquiries and requests to the organization.
•Event Coordination:
-Coordinate various aspects of putting on an event
-Find venue, performers, emcee, participants, community partners, etc.
-Coordinate the program of the events, including hiring photographers, videographers and other vendors
-Coordinate event contractors, interns, volunteers and community partners
-Create and manage event ticketing process
-Coordinate post-event evaluation with attendees and the event team
-Our current events include: Annual Gala, ROAR Story Slam, Writers Block Party,
and other live and virtual fundraising events
•Help coordinate community partnership events
•Support Executive Director and the other KAS team members 

Qualifications:
•2+ years of employment experience preferred in these fields:
-Event coordinator, event planner
-Marketing or promotional communications
-Project management
•Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Proficient in Google Workspace (formerly G Suite)
•Familiar with Google, Microsoft, Adobe and Dropbox products & service
•Comfortable working remotely.
•Must be able to travel on occasion to oversee events
•Able to coordinate multiple events at once
•Must live within a driving distance from NYC to participate in meetings and events
•Authorized to work in the United States

•Possess a professional demeanor and the ability to stay calm under pressure
•Strong communication skills with a positive and energetic attitude
•Wordpress & Constant Contact experience or willingness to learn
•Able to serve as the main contact point for any and all problems that arise at the event
•Detail-oriented, out-of-the-box thinker, who enjoys problem solving
•Analytical thinker with a creative sense
•Ability to meet deadlines / effective time management
•Soft skills such as empathy, active listening, critical thinking
•Experience with graphic design and good aesthetic sense is a plus
•Sense of humor & love for good food is a big plus!

Salary: $45,000 for 40 hours per week
